The future of *Star Wars *video games is finally starting to look up again, and *Star Wars: Galactic Racer *will be one of the first new titles to arrive. Like Star Wars: Zero Company, *Galactic Racer *is currently scheduled for a nebulous 2026 release window, although the all-too-common delays for *Star Wars *games might have fans concerned that either or both could slip out of the window.

Luckily, an update to the Steam page may have just confirmed that the 2026 window is on track. While the information has disappeared again, a change on Friday night offered a specific release date for the game despite the lack of an official announcement.

According to the temporary Steam page revision, *Star Wars: Galactic Racer *will release on October 6, as reported by Reddit user Spider-Fan77. An image comparing the Standard and Deluxe editions of the game was also added to the page, offering a first look at planned pre-order and deluxe edition bonuses. This established that pre-orders will gain access to a player banner and livery, while the deluxe edition will come with a player banner, livery, digital art book, exclusive repulsorcraft, deluxe livery, and arcade events.

None of these changes remain on the Steam page, but we probably won’t have to wait too long to get an official confirmation of the information. While the reason for the early update to the Steam page is unclear, these details are likely planned to be revealed soon, potentially in celebration of Star Wars Day on May 4.

*Star Wars: Galactic Racer isn’t as ambitious as some upcoming *Star Wars *games, but it looks like it could be a very fun one in its own right. The high-speed game takes clear inspiration from Star Wars Episode I: Racer, letting players duke it out in scrappy podracers in both single-player and multiplayer modes. **Galactic Racer *will be the first game to ship from developer Fuse Games, but the team contains former talent from *Burnout *and *Need for Speed *studio Criterion Games, which sounds like the perfect pedigree.

Looking beyond 2026, long-awaited *Star Wars *games like *Star Wars: Eclipse *and the troubled *Knights of the Old Republic *remake remain on the horizon, as well as more recently revealed titles like Fate of the Old Republic. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, though, and *Star Wars: Galactic Racer *is now the closest thing to a bird in the hand that we’ve had in a while.
