There are plenty of remarkable RPGs on Xbox Game Pass, and some that are actually perfect 10/10 games that will feel impeccable to players. There’s a large variety of games from different genres available via Microsoft’s subscription service, but RPGs tend to be some of the most popular options. Just recently, an iconic 50-hour RPG was announced for Xbox Game Pass, for example, expanding the available roster for members who subscribe to the service.

Of course, inside the genre itself, you can find different approaches to the classic staples that define it. For instance, there are turn-based games, action-fueled RPGs, and even some huge twists on the genre. You can find some pretty remarkable RPGs on Xbox Game Pass, but from the large number of entries, there are some that truly stand out as impressive 10/10 titles that are well worth your time, regardless of how you feel about the genre.

One of the most straightforward examples of a 10/10 RPG in the catalog is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The 2015 hit by CD Projekt RED was recently added to the subscription service. The Witcher 3 joined Xbox Game Pass in February in what was one of the best surprises for the service this year. The game is a massive open-world action-based RPG that follows the story of Geralt, a monster-hunting witcher.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is well regarded as one of the best games of the previous decade, offering a perfect balance between fine-tuned action gameplay that is highly customizable for the playstyle you prefer, as well as an intriguing story that will keep you hooked from start to end. The story also has different outcomes depending on the choices you make throughout the campaign.

Another 10/10 RPG under CD Projekt RED’s umbrella is also available in the catalog. Cyberpunk 2077 was added to Xbox Game Pass in March 2026, offering players the opportunity to check out what has gradually become a remarkable game. The release of Cyberpunk 2077 back in late 2020 was a bit turbulent, with tons of technical issues that impacted the player experience.

However, over the years, the majority of the issues have been addressed, and the game has even been optimized for current-gen consoles. In it, you’ll explore a dystopic cyberpunk take on the United States, controlling a fully customizable character called V. You’ll be able to pick your preferred playstyle and venture through a story that is yours to make, with decisions that change the outcome of the Cyberpunk 2077 campaign.

If you’re looking for a more traditional RPG experience, Final Fantasy 4 on Xbox Game Pass is the way to go. Arguably one of the best entries in the classic JRPG series, at least of the traditional 2D pixel era, FF4 has an appealing story that can last dozens of hours. As time-demanding as it is, the Square Enix title keeps players hooked from the start, and will provide a great story to follow with an impressive set of characters to play with.

There are some aspects in which its successor, Final Fantasy 5, excels. For example, FF4 does not have the well-beloved Job System present in FF3 and FF5, but the game still provides its unique take and mechanics that blend in with the larger franchise. Final Fantasy 4’s availability on Xbox Game Pass is a huge boon for subscribers.

Straying away from the RPGs that are heavily invested in fantasy tropes and intense combat, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut stands out while also delivering excellence. Disco Elysium on Xbox Game Pass is recent, as it was added in March 2026, but it instantly became one of the best games in the catalog.

The game created by ZA/UM puts you in control of a police detective who wakes up with no memories of his life or what led him to awaken in a thrashed hotel room. As soon as he gets up, the detective must start working on a case, and with different path options to choose, Disco Elysium’s story starts unraveling based on what you have the detective do. The game mixes investigation with a slight feeling of thrill and humor.

The release of Hades 2 on Xbox Game Pass represents one of the most substantial additions to the catalog recently. Even though it was released on PC in 2025, the roguelite arrived on the subscription service as a day-one console release, but the game is made available for both Premium and Ultimate tier members.

Considered an upgrade of the original title, Hades 2 maintains the gameplay loop that made the original so gripping, while also adding several new mechanics that improve its longevity and replayability. In Hades 2, you follow Melinoë in an exciting new adventure with returning and brand-new characters to develop relationships with as you build her kit to your liking.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is also available on Xbox Game Pass. The game, released back in 2011, still looks and plays well. While some aspects of its graphics haven’t aged too well, they aren’t an impediment to enjoying the open-world action RPG. Skyrim throws itself into the classic high fantasy tropes, and does so with grace.

In the northern reaches of Tamriel, you can make your character the way you want and play with them with whatever playstyle you prefer. Apart from how customizable the character is, your Dragonborn will also be able to engage with countless quests, all of which do a great job of building the world around you. Skyrim is one of the best games of all time, and it’s an unskippable title on Game Pass.

Another great option to avoid the high fantasy tropes is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth on Xbox Game Pass. The JRPG created by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is considered one of the best entries in the Yakuza franchise, and it is something of a conclusion, blending the stories of both Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu.

The franchise is well known for its ludicrous events with heartfelt and serious story arc developments, and this still happens in Infinite Wealth, but from two different perspectives. With highly stylized and eccentric turn-based combat and several different gameplay possibilities, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a 10/10 marvel that you can enjoy for free on Xbox Game Pass.

Arguably one of the best CRPGs on Xbox Game Pass, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is a game that fans of the genre shouldn’t miss. Both it and its predecessor can be played via the subscription service, and while the original is nearly perfect, this beast of an RPG on Xbox Game Pass expands on what made the original so great while also featuring a more compelling shared story between its characters.

Mixing well-made world-building with intricate turn-based combat and a phenomenal cast to voice the characters that you play and meet, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire also stands apart with its nautical exploration and combat possibilities, giving a touch of piracy to a high fantasy story. If you enjoyed Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll most certainly have a great time with Pillars of Eternity 2.

Learning from the lessons left by the Persona series, Metaphor: ReFantazio is created by Studio Zero, a subdivision of Atlus, and published by Sega. If you’ve played Persona 5 or Persona 4, for example, Metaphor: ReFantazio will feel familiar in many ways, while also exploring brand-new avenues that haven’t been seen yet. An easy yet superficial way to describe it is Persona meets medieval fantasy.

The game has extremely stylized turn-based combat and remarkable design. Furthermore, it also bounces on great themes in pretty intelligent ways, much like its cousin franchise. The release of Metaphor: ReFantazio didn’t get as much attention as a Persona title would normally get, but it is just as great as entries in that series, so be sure to check it out on Xbox Game Pass.

The most notable 10/10 RPG in the catalog is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The 2025 GOTY was a day-one release on the subscription service, a feat that helped popularize it and give it a spotlight. The indie game created by Sandfall Interactive is a turn-based RPG with a ton of narrative development that will keep you hooked from the very beginning.

Apart from its fantastic story and the actors that help bring its world to life, the game also excels with its stylish and innovative combat, mixing classic turn-based strategy with real-time features, such as parrying. There are plenty of 10/10 RPGs on Xbox Game Pass, but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 truly stands apart from the rest.
