Few series have built as impressive an audience as Blue Bloods, the Tom Selleck-led procedural set in New York, which lasted 14 seasons before wrapping up at the end of 2024. The show centers on both the professional and personal lives of the Reagans, a family of New York law enforcement officers who work together to keep the city safe while also keeping their family from falling apart. Alongside Selleck as Frank Reagan, the series also features Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan, Will Estes as Jamie Reagan, **Len Cariou **as Henry Reagan, and Andrew Terraciano as Sean Reagan. Every episode of Blue Bloods is available to stream on Paramount+, with select seasons also offered on platforms like Hulu and Prime Video. It didn’t take long for the franchise to find new life, however, with the arrival of its spin-off series, Boston Blue.

In the new procedural, Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan relocates to Boston, where he partners with Lena Silver (played by Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent Boston law enforcement family connected to the Reagans. Boston Blue is now approaching the conclusion of what has largely been a successful debut season, and we at Collider are thrilled to partner with CBS to bring you an exclusive sneak peek of Episode 17, which will air on Friday, May 1, at 10 p.m. In the new episode, Danny teams up with a familiar ally for a race against time when a captured serial killer hints at the whereabouts of a missing child. Meanwhile, health scares and long-kept family secrets surface, forcing team members to confront scary personal truths. The clip features Reverend Edwin Peters (played by Ernie Hudson) telling Mae Silver (played by Gloria Reuben) that she has to tell Lena the truth.

Your answers have pointed to one fictional hospital above all others. This is the ward your instincts, your temperament, and your particular brand of dysfunction were built for.

You are built for the most unsparing version of emergency medicine television has ever shown — one that puts you inside a single fifteen-hour shift and doesn’t let you look away.

You are the person who keeps the whole floor running — not the most brilliant in the room, but possibly the most essential.

You came to medicine with your whole self — your ambition, your emotions, your relationships, your history — and you have never quite managed to leave any of it at the door.

You are drawn to the problem above everything else — the symptom that doesn’t fit, the diagnosis hiding underneath the obvious one.

You understand that medicine is tragic and absurd in almost equal measure — and that the only sane response is to hold both of those things at the same time.

While* Blue Bloods* fans were devastated at the news that the show had been canceled, CBS seems interested in doing right by fans of the Boston Blue spin-off, which has already been renewed for Season 2. Better yet, it’s already been confirmed that Boston Blue will return with Season 2 before the end of this year. With the show continuing to please long-time fans of the franchise while also producing strong ratings, it wouldn’t be surprising if Boston Blue was given the chance to run for just as long as Blue Bloods, possibly even longer.

Check out the first 16 episodes of Boston Blue Season 1 on Paramount+ and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the show.
