In what can only be described as a pretty welcome surprise, Hogwarts Legacy is currently 100% free to download and keep, which is especially odd given there’s been no official announcement that the game was to be given away. Still, we take what we can get. Especially when it’s free.
As I’m sure Harry Potter fans everywhere know, Avalanche Studios, Portkey Games, and Warner Bros. are hard at work on the sequel as we speak. By all accounts, it seems *Hogwarts Legacy 2 *will opt for a more modern setting to tie in to the HBO adaptation in some way, but that’s still a long way off. So, if you have yet to check out *Hogwarts Legacy *for yourself, this limited-time offer seems to be the best time to do it.
At the time of writing, *Hogwarts Legacy *is completely free via the Epic Games Store. This is unusual for a few reasons: firstly, it’s not one of the two weekly free games that Epic announced. The free games this week are *Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure *and *Firestone – Idle Clicker Online RPG. *Secondly, there’s been no official mention of the offer on the *Hogwarts Legacy *social media channels.
However, I can assure you the offer is real, and I’m looking right at it. *Hogwarts Legacy *is 100% off until May 3.
There’s a chance some of you already claimed *Hogwarts Legacy *when it was released via the Epic Games Store as a freebie ahead of The Game Awards in December last year. But if you missed that, you now have a second chance, so don’t miss it. This offer is, of course, only available to PC gamers, although *Hogwarts Legacy *is free via PlayStation Plus Extra if you want to play on console.
“Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books,” reads the game’s official synopsis. “Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover magical beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents and become the wizard you want to be.”
Given the enormous success of *Hogwarts Legacy *when it first launched back in 2023, I’m not convinced there’s anyone left who hasn’t played that would have planned to by now. Still, if, for whatever reason, you fall into the category of Harry Potter fans who still haven’t played *Hogwarts Legacy *after three years, this limited-time free offer is clearly for you.
