Nature lovers, get ready for NBC’s epic new docuseries, Surviving Earth.
In 2025, NBC notably released The Americas, a stunning 10-part series narrated by Tom Hanks that highlighted wildlife from across the globe. Now, NBC is gearing up for another landmark docuseries that will take viewers millions of years into the past. Surviving Earth is an eight-part series set to premiere on June 11, and ScreenRant has the full trailer to exclusively share.
Going back as far as 450 million years,* Surviving Earth* will take a look at how life on Earth was impacted by one catastrophic event after another. But as the title suggests, this is also a story of survival, highlighting species and “never-before-seen creatures” that thrived after facing disaster. Though some experienced mass extinction and long-term suffering,* Surviving Earth* puts an emphasis on how “life returned even stronger” after those disasters.
In *ScreenRant’*s official 2026 2026 TV Preview, we presented an exclusive look at the Baby Spinosaurus, one of the species featured in the series. First announced in 2022, Surviving Earth is executive-produced by Time Haines, who notably created the 1999 nature documentary series, Walking with Dinosaurs. Fans of paleontology will certainly want to check out *Surviving Earth *due to its inclusion of dinosaurs, but the documentary will look at plenty of other species from different geological eras on Earth.
Like Walking with Dinosaurs, Surviving Earth will utilize CGI to tell some of Earth’s most remarkable survival stories. The technology will also help show “landscapes shaped by meteoric strikes, volcanic eruptions, plunging sea levels, and scorching heat storms.” In addition to the trailer, we also have the official key art for Surviving Earth to share.
In addition to the release of Surviving Earth beginning this June, NBC will also be re-airing The Americas starting Thursday, June 4, with back-to-back episodes on NBC. The following week will see the debut of Surviving Earth in the 8 pm ET primetime slot, with encore episodes of The Americas airing at 9 pm ET each week. However, this version of The Americas will be worth tuning into even for those who caught the original version in 2025.
*Surviving Earth *will be paired with The Americas: Fun Fact Edition during its run this summer on NBC. While it’s an encore of the award-winning nature docuseries, this version will feature behind-the-scenes details and new “fun facts” as a way to enhance the viewing experience for new and returning fans.
**Surviving Earth premieres June 11, 2026, at 8 pm ET on NBC with new episodes releasing weekly. After a two-episode encore on June 4 starting at 8 pm ET, The Americas: Fun Fact Edition will follow Surviving Earth through July 30. Episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.
