Searchlight Pictures Developing New Film “Lottery”
Disney’s Searchlight Pictures is developing a brand new drama film called “Lottery”, which tells the story of a young man with Down syndrome who, after winning the lottery, flees his estranged mother and hits the road with a charming new friend who has ulterior motives of her own.
The new film is going to star Keke Palmer, who currently stars in the Peacock series, “The Burbs”, along with “Hustlers”, and “Password”. She is also an executive producer on the film. Also starring in the film will be Zack Gottsagen, who starred in “The Peanut Butter Falcon”.
It will be written by Alexis C. Jolly, who has previously worked on “Baby Monster” and “Belly of the Beast”.
“Lottery” will be directed by Thor Freudenthal, who previously worked with 20th Century Studios on the original “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid” live-action movie.
According to Deadline, it will be produced by David Permut for Permut Presentations, Jen Dana for 3311, and Dan Crown for Red Crown. Also co-producing is Alex Astrachan for Permut Presentations and Yoni Liebling for Red Crown. Sharon Palmer is also an executive producer.
Overseeing the project at Searchlight is production executive Apolline Berty, who reports to Co-Heads of Film Production & Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
With the film still in development, it hasn’t been revealed when the movie will be released, either theatrically or direct to Hulu/Disney+.
