PlayStation Plus has come a long way since 2010. I remember when the service first started, and all it really offered was a few free games a month of varying quality. Gating online multiplayer behind a subscription wasn’t new at the time on consoles, but it stung even more when Sony followed suit after Microsoft. Now, the service has grown significantly, with a full game library, PlayStation Portal support, and a larger, better selection of monthly games to play.
After the price hikes for Xbox Game Pass (that have since been reverted), Sony has been cleaning up when it comes to courting fans, especially if you have a PlayStation Portal device to sweeten the deal. But there’s more happening with PlayStation Plus than expected this year.
In case you weren’t aware, PlayStation Plus also offers discounts and free downloads, which go beyond the scope of just dropping free games regularly.
Right now, PlayStation Plus members can pick up the Search and Destroy Pack for *Battlefield 6 *and REDSEC on PSN, which normally costs $20.
If you have a PlayStation Plus subscription but don’t actively play on the PlayStation 5, you might still be in luck.
Amazingly, a Battlefield 6 fan has a method for getting the bundle on Xbox and PC: “You will need an active PlayStation Plus subscription and a PS5. In order to get it, just download Battlefield RedSec for free on the PSN Store, and with your active PS Plus membership, redeem the bundle in the free-to-play battle royale, and it will show up as part of your inventory in Battlefield 6. And given the game (BF6) has full cross-platform progression, anything you earn for RedSec and BF6 for any platform will transfer to another platform — provided you use the same EA account, of course.”
After launching in October 2025, Battlefield 6 is still trucking with seasonal updates, new game modes, and extra maps, regardless of whether you have a PlayStation Plus membership. Although fan reactions change from season to season, much of the content that drops is fantastic, especially the new maps that breathe new life into the game. If you’re keen on picking up $20 worth of free DLC, get on it.
