PlayStation has just provided players with a new free game for its players, and you won’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to gain access to it. The majority of what is considered free on Sony’s gaming platform is often locked behind a membership. Every month, members get new games added to the catalog and offered for free. Right now, there are several day-one games confirmed for PS Plus in the near future, but those won’t be available for players who don’t subscribe.

However, every so often, Sony does make some games available for free for all players, regardless of whether they are subscribed to PlayStation Plus or not. As was reported by user Kaizuken in a post on Reddit, there is now a new game that is being offered completely free for all PlayStation users, both on PS4 and PS5 consoles, without the need for a PS Plus membership. All players have to do is claim the item to add it permanently to their library, and from there, they can download it at any time; no strings attached.

The latest free PlayStation game that doesn’t require PS Plus is called Real Cake Maker, a casual simulation game that was released on the platform a few days ago. The indie game has you start your journey toward becoming the best cake baker in the city, as you create cakes that will set you apart from the competition. You’ll be able to decorate them in any way you prefer with the options available.

It is worth noting that the free game on PlayStation platforms is the Standard Edition. There is also the Complete Edition, but this one is paid. Even so, the Standard Edition gives players access to the full version of Real Cake Maker, minus additional DLC that brings forth new clothing items, recipes, decorations, and more. At launch, the game had some issues with regional settings, but that has since been resolved.

If this particular game doesn’t fit your preferred playstyle, you should know that there are still plenty of other options to choose from. Just recently, PlayStation dropped a free game for all players, no PS Plus membership required. The title is called Blindfire, a first-person shooter game that takes place in dark environments, only lit by neon colors. Like Real Cake Maker, this title is completely free to claim and download.

Regardless of whether or not these games appeal to you, it is worth at least adding them to your library for free – perhaps, one day, you’ll be looking for something different to play, and if it’s in your library, you’ll at least have the option to download and play it entirely for free on PlayStation.
