The Star Trek franchise is currently in a state of flux as Paramount slowly brings the show’s latest sci-fi renaissance to a close with endings already set for the last remaining offshoots. While the studio intends to bring Star Trek back to the big screen, there’s still a handful of treats to look forward to at home. ***Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ***returns for Season 4 next month with a fifth and final season already filmed and expected to air sometime next year. Meanwhile, following an incredible and underrated first season, ***Starfleet Academy ***is also set to return next year with its second and final season. For fans who enjoyed the wild and inventive ride of Season 1, Collider is thrilled to partner with Paramount to bring you some exclusive home release news.

Today, Collider can reveal that *Starfleet Academy *is officially available to own on Digital. The new release arrives with over one hour of special features, including deleted and extended scenes, featurettes, and a gag reel from Paramount Home Entertainment. Featurettes include a “First Year” behind-the-scenes look that clocks in at 52 minutes, a prop featurette that runs over 15 minutes, and a 4-minute gag reel.

*Starfleet Academy *Season 1 broke new ground for Star Trek in many ways, pushing boundaries as the first series of its kind in the franchise, focusing on a younger generation in the far-flung future of the sci-fi universe. *Starfleet Academy *followed Holly Hunter’s captain, Nahla Ake, as the chancellor for the newly reopened titular school following the events of Star Trek: Discovery’s final season. Though critics lauded the new series, leading to an impressive 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, *Starfleet Academy *was viciously review-bombed by bigoted audiences for its inclusive nature — a core tenet of Star Trek from its inception.

While Starfleet Academy has not yet set a release date for Season 2, filming concluded on the next chapter earlier this year.
