While Tom Holland’s Peter Parker prepares to return to theaters this summer with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he’s not the only version of the wallcrawler swinging back into action soon. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is also set for a big year in 2026 in more ways than one. Season 2 of the Marvel Animation series is complete, according to Marvel’s Head of Television, Brad Winderbaum, but an exact release date hasn’t been revealed yet. Before it arrives, though, Marvel is first inviting viewers to get a behind-the-scenes look at the magic behind the comic-inspired show with a new book titled The Art of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Hailing from author Ramin Zahed and published by Abrams Books, it’s a 240-page collection of storyboards, sketches, character designs, interviews, and more that provides insight into Jeff Trammell’s acclaimed hit.

Collider is excited to exclusively share a few pages from this all-encompassing book that explores the creation of Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo) and the Man Without Fear himself, Daredevil (Charlie Cox), to fit the style of the show. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man features art that blends the aesthetic of Spider-Man’s oldest comic appearances with a modern New York vibe, something that’s reflected in the characters. Daredevil’s various concepts, for instance, reflect some of his iconic costumes over the years, from the classic black and red double-d costume to his gritty vigilante look, and, ultimately, the black spin on his MCU outfit. The book shows off facial expressions and renderings of Matt Murdock, as well as a depiction of the rooftop space where he and Spidey duel.

On Norman’s page, the head of Oscorp dons his signature green suit and strikes a few poses that exude the energy of the powerful, nuanced businessman he is. A few black-and-white depictions of the character further showcase the detailing and shading on each character. He looks as if he’d be right at home in the Amazing Spider-Man newspaper comics. Expect the rest of The Art of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to provide similar creative explorations into the characters and locales of Season 1, from Peter himself to his pals Lonnie Lincoln, Harry Osborn, and Nico Minoru, to classic villains like Scorpion and Dr. Otto Octavius, and the Marvel favorites that make appearances like Iron Man and Doctor Strange.

Season 1 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was praised for how it set up this world and Hudson Thames’ Peter Parker as separate, yet related to the MCU’s Sacred Timeline. Instead of Tony Stark, Norman, a character fans have long wanted to see reintroduced on the big screen, becomes the young hero’s mentor as he balances web-slinging with internships and the life of a high school student. In Season 2, Spidey has come into his own a bit more, now with some upgrades, more experience, and without Norman and his dealings looming over him. He’s his own Spider thanks to the new company set up under Harry (Zeno Robinson), and he’ll have much more to juggle while protecting the people of New York, between the introduction of Venom and the arrival of Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen. That’s without mentioning all the other threats and complications in Peter’s life that the Season 1 finale set up.
