Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things BoschMission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider’s news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan’s work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

It’s quite the year for new games. While fans are eagerly awaiting releases like*** GTA****** 6 ***and ***Marvel’s ***Wolverine, isn’t it interesting that one of the most anticipated titles of the year isn’t even a new game at all? Ask many people what they’re most excited for, and they’ll probably say getting to play as members of the X-Force, or heading down to Vice City for the first time in a quarter of a century. However, if you’re like us, you’re heading back to the Seven Seas with Blackbeard again.

In just three days, on July 9, Ubisoft is officially releasing a fully remade, next-gen version of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, which has been titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. The project has long been rumored for several years, and it was officially announced by the studio with a breathtaking gameplay trailer earlier this year. It won’t be the only big game releasing on that day, however, as it releases on the same page of the calendar as EA Sports College Football, but since the games don’t have much in the way of crossover, there’s no reason why both games shouldn’t do particularly well.

July 9 is also a useful date for both games, as it should give them plenty of breathing room before the next AAA games to release later in the year, like Wolverine and *Grand Theft Auto 6. *And if they’re anything like this writer, gamers probably haven’t finished 007 First Light either.

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

When the first trailer was dropped for *Black Flag Resynced, *fans were quick to praise Ubisoft for the huge graphical improvements made, thanks to the increased power from the latest generation of consoles. Now, the game looks just like the best and brightest release to come out in 2026. Not only that, but there are now elements of previous Assassin’s Creed RPGs, like health bars, but Ubisoft has assured that the core elements of the game are all the same. In addition, this time around, there will be **no Hidden Blade combat in *Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced ***— it remains an assasination tool, but players will need to stick to their swords and their wits if stealth encounters go south.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of* Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced*, which launches on July 9.
