It was recently reported that Sheridan has penned a new Scottish-based drama titled The Laird — which sadly has nothing to do with ******Mayor of Kingstown ***star Emma Laird. An insider said, “This drama is likely to explore the links between Scotland and America, which is a theme that has come up in previous shows such as Yellowstone,” adding, “That Western featured the Dutton family who revealed they originated in the Scottish Highlands, and in the 18th and 19th centuries huge numbers of Scots emigrated across the Atlantic to start new lives.”

The report continued, “In a darker chapter of the country’s history, many Scots also became involved in the trans-Atlantic slave trade, becoming rich landowners in the process and giving their names to many of the slaves they owned.” It’s also been suggested that filming will take place as early as later this month, with a 2027 release being eyed for Paramount+. Given that the Dutton family from the *Yellowstone *franchise has Scottish heritage, perhaps this could be yet another addition to the universe in the form of a prequel or spin-off? An official announcement is yet to be released, so for the time being, we’ll have to wait for news. Still, if true, it would be Sheridan’s first series to not predominantly take place in the U.S.
