A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he’s an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, ’70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, ’90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they’re good, and maybe even more when they’re bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed “Canuxploitation.”
An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

It’s been a long wait since it was first announced, and a longer wait since the last movie in the franchise hit theaters, but Blade Runner fans are finally in for a treat this month. Blade Runner 2099, the long-awaited TV series based on the groundbreaking science fiction franchise, will finally be unveiled at a panel at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Prime Video has announced its slate of panels for the largest pop culture convention in the world, which will take place from July 23 to 26 at the San Diego Convention center. Blade Runner 2099 will have to share space with one of Prime Video’s other notable science fiction and fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power at the panel, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. PT on Friday, July 24. The panel will give attendees a first look at both Blade Runner 2099 and the upcoming third season of The Rings of Power.
Blade Runner 2099 is inspired by the works of Philip K. Dick, who envisioned a future time period where humanity has established offworld colonies with the help of artificial humans known as replicants; despite seemingly possessing the same sentience as human beings, replicants are not considered human, and when they go rogue, they can be hunted down by “blade runners.” From the title, we can glean that the series is set farther in the future than the original Blade Runner (which is set in 2019) and Blade Runner 2049. It will star Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh as Olwen, a replicant at the end if her pre-programmed lifespan; it will also star Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), Dimitri Abold (Hijack), and **Lewis Gribben **(Somewhere Boy). It is created by Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) and produced by Ridley Scott, who directed the original Blade Runner in 1982.
Prime Video has a bevy of other panels set to showcase their upcoming slate of series. They include Batman: Caped Crusader on Thursday, July 23; ***Reacher ***and its new spin-off, Neagley, on July 25; and Mike Flanagan’s new imagining of Stephen King’s Carrie later on the 25th.
Blade Runner 2099 will be unveiled at a San Diego Comic Con panel on July 24; no release date for the series has yet been announced. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
