HBO Max's Forgotten 2-Part Mystery Thriller Is a Perfect Binge-Watch

There have been some truly fantastic adaptations of mystery/thriller books over the past couple of years. Whether you were drawn into the Southern Gothic horrors of Sharp Objects, captivated by the intriguing legal drama of Presumed Innocent, or compelled by the murder mystery in His & Hers, all of these books were brought to the screen in effective ways. While these shows have achieved success, there’s one other binge-worthy HBO Max thriller that has somehow already been forgotten.

The Flight Attendant was adapted from a bestselling 2018 novel by Chris Bohjalian. The Steve Yockey drama premiered back in 2020 and consists of 16 episodes of fast-paced suspense with some dark comedy mixed in. The series follows Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco), a flight attendant who is basically a hot mess, drinking too much and making reckless decisions. Even though Cassie’s life might look fun and carefree on the surface, she’s actually hanging on by a thread.

When Cassie decides to spend a layover in Bangkok with a handsome passenger named Alex Sokolov (Michiel Huisman), her life gets turned upside down when she wakes up in their hotel room after a wild night. She’s got a killer hangover, but things go from bad to worse when she realizes Alex has actually been brutally murdered. Unfortunately, Cassie can’t remember a thing about the night before. As the season unfolds, Cassie tries to piece together who Alex actually was and what transpired that fateful night. Season 2 is every bit as propulsive as Cassie gets pulled even further into a dangerous world she has to fight to survive.
